Classroom Freedom
Standards Plus History Academy was started to break free…free from the monopolistic constraints of a government-run education system that has become over-regulated, over-tested, and over-politicized. If I learned anything during and after Covid, technology has opened the door to learning outside the power and control of a consistently under-performing system.
How We Can Help
It began when two mothers approached me with the same request: How can we homeschool our high-school age sons without having to personally teach them? They were dissatisfied with the limited local school options when they discovered my online curriculum materials. They called, requesting that I offer online instruction teaching my own materials. At the time, I hadn’t thought of offering online instruction though I had experience doing it. Since then, Standards Plus History Academy has been providing a standards-based online history and government education, including materials, resources, and instruction – in short, an alternative to public education. Barry Jones
A history and government teacher and author of three JFK assassination books, Barry Jones has been providing quality materials to his students for over 25 years. A licensed, certified, Level 5 high school teacher, Mr. Jones’ undergrad degree is in Secondary Education: Political Science and Comprehensive Social Studies and his master’s degree is in Curriculum & Instruction: History.
Recognizing there is no substitute for experience, Mr. Jones has created Standards Plus History Academy as a clearinghouse for all the US History, World History, JFK Assassination, and US Government resources he has developed over two decades of teaching, making them and his online classes available to students and teachers alike.
These resources include but are not limited to PowerPoint presentations, guided notes outlines, essays, books, worksheets, reviews, blogs and podcasts – all designed to make learning more accessible, enjoyable, and impactful!
